I began practicing yoga in 2001 while living in Charleston, SC. I was initially drawn to yoga to find a release from daily corporate work stress. As my practice deepened, so did my dedication to a healthy, conscious lifestyle.
When I moved to Austin in 2011, I left the corporate world to pursue a career of service and wellness by becoming a yoga teacher. I received my E-RYT 200-hr Certification through Yoga Yoga in Austin, then started Total Balance Yoga, a company that brought yoga to small businesses in the Austin area. Shortly after, I began studying with international yoga teacher Sadie Nardini in New York City. After many hours of training with Sadie and her Core Strength Vinyasa program, I was introduced to my mentor Amy Ippoliti, an international yoga teacher/author living in Boulder, CO. Over the years, I’ve made many trips to Boulder to study with Amy and have received over 400 hours of advanced training with her. Amy’s alignment-based, heart-centered approach to yoga is what fuels my teaching!
In 2015, I opened Studio Mantra, a yoga and wellness studio serving the community of Northwest Austin for 5 years. In 2020 we pivoted and became Mantra Yoga Collective as we kept the Mantra Yoga community alive and thriving through Livestream and Outdoor classes. In January 2024 our community moved into our new brick-and-mortar, and our new HOME…The Retreat!
My classes are challenging, yet playful - motivating, yet mindful. My teaching style is also theme-based, with the goal of applying the ancient yoga teachings to modern day life; and I LOVE bringing in all types of music from DJ Drez to Willie Nelson! I aim to provide a space where students of all levels and abilities feel welcome and comfortable. I also LOVE hosting women on retreats in topical destinations around the world!
I grew up in Tupelo, MS and attended the University of Mississippi. After living in Charleston, SC for 10 years post-college, my husband Chris and I moved to Austin in 2011 and are now settled into in Northwest Austin. We enjoy an energy-filled life with our guitar-playing son, Heath and our gymnast daughter, Harper… and our 2 dogs, Banjo & Honey; our 2 cats, Pearl & Baby-Cat, and THREE tortoises: Clapton, Shelly and Tortellini. Our life is FULL and we are so grateful.
