Join us at the Retreat for a MAGICAL event to celebrate the rising of October’s Full Hunter’s Moon!
AT 7:15pm on October 16th, Amy & Ash will lead us in a lovely evening filled with relaxation, gentle movement and sound as we honor the full moon of Libra season!
Each month’s full moon was named by ingenious peoples to represent the happenings of the natural world around them. The Full Moons would guide them throughout the year as they prepared for seasonal changes in the environment… like upcoming weather conditions, changes in food supply, etc. The Hunter’s Moon symbolized a time of preparation as the cold Winter nights were on the horizon! Most Indigenous people of the Northern Hemisphere regions began to hunt deer and other animals that came out to feed in the harvested fields that were lit up by the previous Harvest Moon. Tribes would gather to feast, dance, connect, and offer thanks as they prepared for Winter!
In current times, most of us don’t fully live our lives in accordance with the moons (in regards to the Hunter’s Moon for example, many of us have never even hunted!) …but we can still experience and feel the particular energies of the shift in the season. After the Autumn Equinox (which was on September 22nd this year) the days get shorter and the nights get longer. The temperatures cool down, and the scents in the air take on an earthiness, as leaves begin to change color and fall. All these changes start to turn our attention inward…away from sunny activities of summer! For Indigenous peoples, this was a time for sitting around the fire in community - a time for children learn from their elders. With it being “back-to-school” season for many of us, we’ve entered a time to shift our focus to learning, to teaching, and to getting back to work. The Hunter’s Moon also guides us inward to focus on what we want to accomplish in the new season…and what’s keeping us from moving toward our goals. This is a time to MANIFEST our wildest dreams, and to RELEASE all that doesn’t serve our highest intentions! This is also a time to honor our elders and ancestors and to recognize that their spirit is alive in all of us.
During our Full Moon Yoga + Sound Bath, Amy & Ash will lead us through a relaxing yoga practice as we prepare our bodies to receive the vibrations of sound from various instruments - including a beating drum, singing bowls and the gong. You will leave feeling relaxed, renewed and nourished…and ready to receive and appreciate the abundant energy of the Hunter’s Moon.
